Exact Sun or Moon Positioning

You want to place the sun or the moon at a certain position in your image?
How about exactly at the horizon between a group of small islands?
1) Set up your scene and start a short test render.
2) Change to a display mode that shows the wireframe (best seen in mixed wireframe/render display mode).
3) Then select the Sky & Fog Palette, hold down Ctrl + Alt and double-click the Sun sphere:

[it takes a bit of practice in timing and mental warpage to get the
CTRL + ALT + double click just right, cursing helps a lot. Mac users note, use Ctrl+Opt rather than ALT key]

If you don't have the sun in your view, then nothing appears to happen.
Be patient!. Hold down Ctrl + Alt and left click into your scene to place the sun at the click position:

The sun or moon will be shown as asterisk.
If you hold down Ctrl+Alt+Shift then you can also directly place the moon.
Make sure you crank down the shadow intensity - the defaults (90 units) are waaay too high!
I suggest using a setting of 40-60 units for global shadows if you want to see the underlying textures.

they should have put this in the damn manual over a decade ago.

Note 2006: Yay for Darlissa at DAZ, an avid user and very knowledgeable Brycer who knows the ins and outs.
She has incorporated tips like this, and much more into the new ( DAZ Bryce 6+) users manual. Thank you Darlissa!
